Crypto
Kraken
Ember reads your Kraken balance using a tightly-scoped API key with no trading or withdrawal permissions.
Kraken sync needs the Ember plan or above — up to 3 live broker/crypto connections; Blaze is uncapped.
1
Create a restricted API key
- Log in to Kraken and go to Security → API.
- Click Add key. Give it a description like
Ember (read-only). - Under Key permissions, tick only:
- Query Funds
- Query Ledger Entries (optional — needed if you want historical balance checks)
- Leave all trade, order, and withdraw permissions unchecked.
- Save the key. Copy the API Key and Private Key — Kraken shows these once.
2
Add the connection in Ember
- Go to Settings → Integrations and click Add connection.
- Select Kraken.
- Paste the API Key and Private Key, add a label, and link to an asset.
3
Test the connection
Click Sync now. Ember calls the Balance endpoint, aggregates all asset balances at current market prices, and updates the linked asset.
